The Terrapin is Maryland’s State Reptile, but what other turtles might we find in Maryland? We’ll compare shapes of shells and feet to determine whether these reptiles lived on land or in water. June 4: First Free Friday
Enjoy jazz under the lighthouse with Joyce Kinser, while waiting for a free ride on the Wm. B. Tennison, sponsored by M&T Bank. See “Under Our Skin,” the documentary about Lyme disease sponsored by the Lyme Awareness Network of Calvert County in the auditorium at 5:30 p.m. The Museum and lighthouse are open and free to the public from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Docents will be in every gallery talking about the exhibits.

A free drop-in program for children 18 months – 3 years old. Find snails clinging to the grass in the marsh and see what they feel like. First, sort out different shaped shells and hear a story about these slimy creatures.

June 25: Maritime Concert Series featuring Lee Murdock
Lee Murdock hails from the maritime heritage of the Great Lakes with music grounded in the work song tradition from the rugged days of lumberjacks and wooden sailing schooners. His music finds drama and inspiration in the lives of sailors and fisherman, lighthouse keepers, ghosts, shipwrecks, and everyday heroes in the grand folk style. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. in the museum auditorium. $5 donation per person requested. Cash bar available.
