Jan 3, 2006, 07:43
The Calvert Marine Museum will present a free family concert on Sunday, January 15th at 2:30 p.m. as part of Winter Lights: A Celebration of Chesapeake Bay Lighthouses.
From 2:30 to 3:00 the comic and colorful Scurvy Crew will entertain audiences with their mix of sea shanties and high jinks. This local group of teens under the direction of Jackie Waymire has developed a following among those who like good music and a good laugh.
At 3:00 Bob Zentz, well known maritime musician hailing from Norfolk, Virginia will take the stage. Bob, a singer of songs, old and new, about people, places and times gone by, plays on dozens of the usual, and unusual folk instruments. He is an accomplished teller of 'the tales behind the songs', and an acknowledged scholar of the evolution of 'home-made music'.
Don’t miss this exciting conclusion to a full weekend of activities at the Calvert Marine Museum. For more information, go to the web site, calvertmarinemuseum.com, or contact Melissa McCormick at 410-326-2042 ext. 41.
