DR. ALTON DOOLEY TO SPEAK AT THE CALVERT MARINE MUSEUM

The Calvert Marine Museum is pleased to offer a free public lecture by Dr. Alton Dooley, Assistant Curator of Paleontology at the Virginia Museum of Natural History on Saturday, February 11 at 2:30pm in the museum’s auditorium. The lecture, titled “Paleontology of Ica and Arequipa Regions, Southern Peru” will present an illustrated look at the remarkable diversity of prehistoric fossils from Southern Peru. Dr. Dooley will focus on superbly well-preserved whale and dolphin fossils from the Miocene and Pliocene epochs that are abundant in these areas.
The lecture, hosted by the Calvert Marine Museum Fossil Club, is sponsored by the Clarissa and Lincoln Dryden Endowment for Paleontology, and is free and open to the public. Membership to the Fossil Club is open to the members of the Calvert Marine Museum Society; annual dues are $10.00.
