PIRATES ON THE CHESAPEAKE

Oct 27, 2006, 08:14

Did you know there were once pirates sailing up and down the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River?

Come and learn about the outrageous acts and high jinks of our local scallywags. As part of our month-long celebration of pirates, Dr. Ralph Eshelman will give his popular presentation on “Picaroons, Privateers, Buccaneers and Corsairs: Robbery on the High Seas" – an illustrated lecture on piracy including the Othello Affair - an incidence of French pirates on the Patuxent River in 1807.

The presentation will take place on Sunday, November 12, at 2 p.m. in the museum auditorium.  Admission to the talk is free and open to the public.
