THE CALVERT MARINE MUSEUM CELEBRATES PIRATE DAY
Oct 17, 2007, 05:13
On Monday, November 12, from10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the Calvert Marine Museum will be invaded by pirates! Visitors are ‘commanded’ to report in their best scalawag attire to be pirates for the day. Come learn to make a pirate’s knotted bracelet, get a pirate “tattoo” and wear an eye patch. You can carve a scrimshaw candle, make a sailor’s spyglass, and design your own Jolly Roger pirate flag. Use your treasure map to hunt for pirate treasure and have your picture taken as the pirate king. At 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium there will be a special showing of The Crimson Pirate. This 1952 adventure film starring Burt Lancaster as Captain Vallo is set in the Caribbean late in the 18th century on the fictional islands of Cobra and San Pero. This is your chance to cheer the hero and boo the villain loudly as part of the show!
All children (up to 12 years) who come dressed as a pirate get free admission to the museum. Over 12 years normal admission fees apply. For information, visit our web site at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com or call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.
