Friday, February 3 First FREE Friday
The museum is open free to the public from 5:00 8:00 p.m. with trained docents in each gallery. Returning for the fourth year, Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition will perform in the auditorium at 6:00 p.m. The evening promises fun for the whole family!
Thursday, February 9 and 16 Sea Squirts
Feathers, Shells, and Claws, Oh My. FREE drop-in program for toddlers 18 months to 3 years old from 10:30 a.m. 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, February 11 Black History Month
Dr. Sheila Moore will speak in honor of Black History Month at 10:00 a.m. in the museum lounge. Dr. Moore taught for 25 years in the Calvert County Public School System. The lecture is sponsored by the American Association of University Women and the Concerned Black Women of Calvert County. FREE. Snow date is Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, February 11 Poetry Out Loud Competition
First place winners from eight counties will compete in the third stage of the Poetry Out Loud Competition at the Calvert Marine Museum at 12:00 noon. Contestants from Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Calvert, Charles, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, and St. Mary's will recite works they selected from an anthology of more than 680 classic and contemporary poems. FREE to the public.
Thursday, February 16 - PEM Talks
The Lost Landmarks Series features Jane Cox presenting Lost Towns of the Chesapeake at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Cox, Assistant Director for the Lost Towns Archaeology Project, will share the fascinating story of how lost towns are discovered and what they teach us about the past. FREE.
Sunday, February 19 Junior Scouts
Earn the Junior Badge: Science Discovery from 9:30 a.m. 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. 4:30 p.m. The cost is $10. Preregistration required. Call 410-326-2042, ext. 41.
Sunday, February 19 Sunday Conversations
Sunday Conversations with Chesapeake Authors will feature Janie Suss, winner of the Moms Choice Award with her book Oscar and Olive Osprey: A Family Takes Flight. Experience the heartwarming story of two ospreys who raise their family on the Chesapeake Bay at 2:00 p.m. in the lounge. Book signing will follow the presentation. FREE.
Monday, February 20 School is Out!
Mystery at the Museum: Using clues throughout the museum, figure out the mystery object at the top of every hour from 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. FREE with museum admission.
Thursday, February 23 - Little Minnows
Whats for Lunch? Children ages 3 5 years are invited to participate from 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. to learn about the food chain. $4 members, $5 non-members. Preregistration suggested. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.
Saturday, February 25 Bugeye Ball
Enjoy an evening of dining, dancing, and gaming at the Annual Bugeye Ball from 7:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m. Join the air of excitement and mystery of the Roaring Twenties. Lost Landmarks Series features Laura Trieschmann discussing how the country store has played a major role as both a commercial and social center. FREE in the museum auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

The museum is open free to the public from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. with trained docents in each gallery. Entertainment by Katie and Logan Acoustic Duo begins at 7:00 p.m. featuring two acoustic guitars, a little harmonica, ukulele, etc. along with dynamic vocal harmonies. Celebrate Youth Art Month with a reception in the lobby featuring works by local Calvert County students.
