FIRST FREE FRIDAY FEATURING FREE FUN FOR ALL
May 14, 2008, 09:27
Looking for something different to do on a Friday night? Check out Solomons and the Calvert Marine Museum’s First Free Friday. On Friday, June 7, the museum will be open from 5 – 8 p.m. In addition to seeing award-winning exhibits, including the newly opened paleontology hall, you can stroll the boardwalk sipping a complimentary cup of Starbucks coffee, visit the Drum Point Lighthouse, and even take a quick ride on the Wm. B. Tennison – all FREE. Visitors can find a real fossil, bring in a fossil to be identified in the paleo prep lab, raise and lower the sail on the Carla Sue located in the main exhibit hall, learn to tie a knot or lasso a piling, and learn about the creatures in the aquarium from trained docents.
The Scurvy Crew will be singing their sea chanteys throughout the museum all evening. If you haven’t heard this energetic group of young pirates – it’s an experience not to be missed!
