CALVERT MARINE MUSEUM CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY

The Calvert Marine Museum will be one of hundreds of museums around the world celebrating International Museum Day on Sunday, May 18, 2008. Admission to the Calvert Marine Museum will be free to all visitors on International Museum Day, and discounted memberships will be offered to new members.
International Museum Day has been celebrated all over the world since 1977. The Calvert Marine Museum offers visitors the unique opportunity to see the maritime heritage of Southern Marylanders, as well as the environmental and geological heritage of the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River. The museum offers hands-on activities for youth in its newly renovated Discovery Room, along with a wealth of information and exhibits for visitors of all ages.
The museum will be open regular hours on International Museum Day, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tours of the Drum Point Lighthouse will be scheduled throughout the day, and a cruise aboard the historic Wm. B. Tennison will be offered for a nominal fee at 2:00pm.
