Beat the winter blues and warm up at the Calvert Marine Museum with programs and fun for visitors of all ages. The museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Thursday, February 4
Little Minnows: LET’S BUILD A BOAT! Too cold to sail, so let’s build a boat instead, just like the real boat builders. Children ages 3 - 5 years (with an adult), 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Fee: $4 for members, $5 for non-members. Pre-registration required: 410-326-2042 ext. 41.
             
Friday, February 5
First Free Friday presents the Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition in concert beginning at 6:15 p.m. in the museum auditorium. Free concert series is funded by the Maryland State Arts Council and The Boeing Company. Museum is free from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with docents in all of the galleries.

Girl Scout Fun with Jr. Badge: Rocks Rock, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 2:00-4:30 p.m. Pre-registration required. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41

Thursday, February 11 & 18
Sea Squirts: TRIANGLES, CIRCLES, AND SQUARES, OH MY! Can you find an animal shaped like a triangle? A circle? What about a star? They all live in our exhibit tanks. For ages 18 months – 3 years (with an adult) from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., this free drop-in program requires no registration.

Saturday, February 13
Girl Scout Fun with Brownie Try-It: Movers 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 2:00-4:00 p.m. Pre-registration required. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.

Monday, February 15
Toy boat building: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Museum staff and volunteers guide young boat builders in the ancient craft of toy boat building in the Maritime History Hall. A material fee of $2.00 is required.  

Thursday, February 18
PEM Talks: Rising Seas and Sinking Lands presented by Dr. Ralph Eshelman in the museum auditorium at 7:00 p.m. FREE. Funded is provided by the Southern Maryland Heritage Area Consortium and the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, and the Boeing Company.

Saturday, February 20
Young Salts focus on LIGHTHOUSES. Can you imagine growing up in a lighthouse? We’ll read Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie by Peter and Connie Roop, make a lighthouse to take home, and become lighthouse keepers ourselves. Children ages 5 -7 years, 10:00 – 12:00 noon. Fee: $5 for members, $7 for non-members. Pre-registration required: 410-326-2042 ext. 41.

During 2010, the Calvert Marine Museum celebrates 40 successful years, providing education, history, and cultural experiences. The museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors and military with valid I.D., and $2.00 for children ages 5 – 12; children under 5 are free.
